Carleton here - we found a house we really like yesterday while out in Corona. None of the cookie cutters on 0.0000056 acres really interested us much - all beat up, mostly foreclosures - so our realtor suggested we look at a 100-year-old home that had been beat up and was a foreclosure. Brilliant man. It's a major piece of work, but the fun part is that it's big, it has character, it's cheap, and it's on a big lot. Did we mention cheap? 75 bucks a square foot in California is unheard of. I guess not having a front door, missing some windows, having no carpet to speak of, missing hinges, all the kitchen cupboards (need I go on?) was a turn-off to everyone else. We're hopeful we can get it, but if not, the search will continue...

Robyn's friend Aileen turned 30, so we celebrated with her at a yummy Italian restaurant near the Venice Beach pier - O&C's Trattoria - they had the best little butter garlic rolls - I think I ate 20 or so.
