Surf's Up

My brother, Jordan, came to visit us for his spring break so we showed him around. We went climbing, surfing, to the Getty Museum, out for great food, etc.

Here, Carol is giving Jord and Carleton some surfing lessons.

Apollo was Jordan's little buddy. Apollo's playing with Jord's hair in this pic.

Annie was Jord's buddy too. She loves getting her back rubbed. I posted some more pics of Annie because she is changing so much.

ANY IDEAS?
PLEASE HELP. Got any advice on adjusting to two kids? I would love to hear it. Apollo is usually the sweetest little guy and so fun to be around. Since Annie was born, he wants to be held more often (where before he had to walk by himself) and is more whiny and needy. Is this just a phase?

Our Little Joys

I love this picture. I told my sister, I think this is the best pic I've ever taken. Apollo laid down by Annie to play with her and I hoped I could get the camera in time. Apollo is sooo adorable with little Annie. The other day he and Dad came home and I wanted to say hello to him and give him a hug. He heard Annie crying, so he went right past me to help her out. I think they'll be good friends.

The Crusty.
When my mom was here, she taught him how to do a crusty. He does it for us and we always bust out laughing because he'll do a supper happy face right afterward.

Cute.

Right now Apollo is in bed singing to himself.

He is always asking for a bath and gets so excited when he gets one. Whenever we change his clothes or diaper he gets excited thinking it's bath time. A couple of days ago he kept trying to take his clothes of saying "bath" and I had to distract him.

Carleton rubbed Apollo's feet after dinner tonight and he said "good".

When Mom and Heidi were here, we put Apollo in his car seat, in the tub (Marshal was in his bed). Mom heard him say "help please" in the night (maybe he needed a little stretch) and she said that haunted her for the rest of the night.

Mom took him to the hot tub and he would say "ready" and then step off into the water. He does that off a little chair we bought him from the dollar store. It's so funny because he has to work himself up to do it.

Here are some cute pics of little Annie. She looks so trendy with her little Ugs (thanks Callie). She is changing and growing every day. She's really filling out and growing out of her jamies. She is such a good baby.

Enjoying Annie

Thank you Carol, for throwing an amazing work shower for us (this was 2 days before we went to the hospital)! The cake was the coolest! Everyone was so thoughtful.

We went in on Feb. 25th to be induced. We were supposed to go in at 12 in the afternoon but no beds were available until 5pm. I was given petocin to start everything but didn't dilate enough to get an epidural. I was out of my mind in pain after getting my water broken and still getting the petocin drips. They wanted me to be dilated further and wanted Annie to drop down more. I was in pain all night. At 6:45 am I was dilated to a 4 and given an epidural. Right after I had the epidural, I was dilated to a 9 and we got ready to go. Twenty minutes later Annie joined us. Her heart rate dropped so they used a vacuum to speed up the process. We got to hold her and be with her right after the delivery and enjoy her. I felt like I was on drugs I was sooooooo filled with JOY! It was so wonderful to have a great delivery and to be able to hold and be with my baby (it was a very different story with Apollo). She was in our room until we went home.

Apollo has loved and treated Annie so sweetly from the beginning. This is the first time Grandma and Apollo met Annie. When Annie cries he tries to help her and sometimes cries along with her. Mom made a shake for him one day and I found him in by Annie's crib drinking away. He loves to be around her. He always says "Hi Annie" or "Night night Annie". He gives her sweet little kisses.

He has fun playing with Annie's things- swing, chair, glasses and in her hospital even the little hospital cradle. We are trying to help both our kids transition to this big change. Apollo wants to be held more and wants us to read books when we're in the middle of changing diapers. It was hard for me the first few days when I wasn't able to pick him up. I'm used to giving him so much attention so it's been an adjustment for us as parents too.

We left having a family of three and came home as a family of four. Apollo and Annie were both pooped and asleep when we got home.

We blessed Annie when she was just over a week old because we had my mom and sister here as well as Carleton's parents. She was blessed in the same dress that I was blessed in. We thought she looked so pretty. What a good girl she is!

These pictures are of my family (mom, dad, Carleton, and Apollo) going to the beach. On another day, Carleton and Heidi were going to do some climbing but the climb had a full waterfall on it so we let the boys (Marshal and Apollo) play in the water.

It was so nice to have family here. It was a hard day when I drove my sister to the airport (both of our parents had left earlier) and Carleton had his first day back at work. Going from one to two kids has is a big change. I'm trying to take it day by day.

Here's Apollo taking care of Annie. I love this picture of Annie looking at Carleton. She always turns her head to the person talking to her.

We've had some little worries with Annie. She throws up out of her mouth and nose (it's getting better now) and makes choking sounds when we put her in bed. On top of that, she has a cold and gets stuffed up. At least her temp. never got in the 100s. The pediatrician said she had lost too much weight and so we fed her whenever she was awake and woke her for feedings too. Her jaundice made her more sleepy so it could have been why she didn't eat as well. But thankfully, at her two week doctor's appointment she gained tons of weight and her jaundice is completely gone. She is such a good baby and we're glad she's doing so well. She is so sweet.

Annie's Here

Our little angel Annie arrived February 26 at 7:08 am. She was 8 lbs 9 oz, 20 inches long - when we saw her, we thought we were having a 7 pounder because she looked so much smaller than Apollo at birth. We think she's beautiful!

Here's what we know about her so far:
  • Annie loves to have her head rubbed
  • She loves to snuggle
  • She always tucks her feet in tight when she's being held
  • She loves bath time - getting in the water relaxes her
  • She loves her after bath massage
  • She's adored by her older brother - he loves giving her kisses and being "soft"
  • She loves to sleep next to her daddy
  • She has long fingers and long toes
